Main Entrance The entrance is managed by Charon, the reaper of souls. He takes them into an elevator and heads down, where they sail across the River Styx toward the opposite shore. On that shore, Cerberus, a three-headed dog, stands guard. The souls must pass by Cerberus toward their afterlife. Once they pass Cerberus, they cannot leave. |

River Styx The river was a sacred place to both gods and men. It circles the Underworld nine times, eventually converging on a great marsh at the center of the Underworld with the rivers Phlegethon, Acheron, and Cocytus. The river is filled with lost hopes and dreams, as well as wishes that never came true. The River Styx is also where Stygian iron is cooled to make it indestructible, as well as where Stygian ice is formed. Heroes who bathe in it become invulnerable. Swearing on the River Styx is the most binding oath someone can make. |

Hades's Palace Hades lives and operates his command over the Underworld within his palace. His gate is engraved with images of death and his throne is made of bones, with a flowery throne next to it for his wife, Persephone. Hades built it to resemble Olympus even though everything is black and bronze, the opposite of Olympus. |

Fields of Punishment Someone who has committed criminal acts in their lifetime is sent to the Fields of Punishment, to be tortured for eternity. Miles of barbed wire separate the different torture areas, some of which include being burned at the stake, running through cactus patches naked, being chased by hellhounds, and being forced to listen to opera music. |

Pits of Tartarus - 1 ViewingTartarus is the deepest and darkest part of the Underworld, and where the gods imprison their enemies, chiefly the Titans. When a monster is slain, its essence is sent to Tartarus until they can reform. It's described as a dark, gloomy pit, surrounded by a wall of bronze, and beyond that a three-fold layer of night. |
